While recent surveys indicated that the race in Florida was tight, with Romney and Gingrich separated by only two percentage points, a poll of 580 likely Republican primary voters released this morning by Hamden, Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University shows Romney pulling away from Gingrich, 38 percent to 29 percent.
The two other contenders lag far behind in the poll. Texas U.S. Representative Ron Paul has 14 percent of likely voters, with 12 percent for former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.
The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
